Wheat Grass & Diabetes Mellitus

Wheat Grass & Diabetes Mellitus

 Wheat Grass & Diabetes Mellitus

Do blood sugar measurements become a worrisome issue to you because of irregular sugar values either before or after eating? Did your physician change the medication doses and times in order to get better sugar readings, but it was useless? Did you become afraid to sleep due to the frequently happening attacks of hypoglycemia dung sleep?

The extracts of wheatgrass preserved in both native olive oil, and in natural apple vinegar helps in controlling diabetes readings.

As usual in the balanced nutritional system we aim at hitting the target, and at treating the malady rightly. This requires a good knowledge about the mechanisms and factors that lead to this malady. Therefore, we need to know how the human body adjusts blood sugar and what are the types of sugar therein? What are the sugar source?

The body usually gets glucose when you eat foods containing carbohydrates in the form of polysaccharides that found in rice or bread or noodles, or in the form of mono- and disaccharides that are found in table sugar, jam, or fruit, etc. In both cases whether foods contains polysaccharides that made up monosaccharides like glucose, fructose, galactose, or they contain mono- and disaccharides, the digestive system, starting from the mouth, processes food through hydrolyzing reactions. These reactions include the secretion of sugar-hydrolyzing enzymes such as oral and pancreatic amylase, maltase, lactase, and others that eventually lead to convert food sugars inside the intestine into single sugars consists of one molecule only. Most of these converted sugars consist of glucose, which is considered the first source of energy and carried by the blood to reach all the organs and tissues of the human body, especially the brain. It is characterized by its ability to enter the cells only in the presence of insulin. Among other monosaccharides that result from the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates, is fructose, which is used as fuel in the cells, and can be converted into glucose in the liver. There are some complex structures of carbohydrates in the human body in the form of fibers that are indigestible such as cellulose, but they are digestible in animals, due to the presence of specific enzymes that can digest cellulose fibers.

Since these specific enzymes are not present in human body, cellulose fibers remain in the intestine and help significantly in improving the bowel function and in preventing constipation in addition to many other benefits.

The monosaccharides resulted by the digestion of carbohydrates in the intestinal lumen are absorbed through the intestinal wall into the blood capillaries to enter the blood stream. According to the composition of food the uptake rate of glucose into the blood varies.

There are foods of high-sugar-index, they are absorbed faster upon ingestion in the intestinal tract if compared with these foods of low-sugar-index, which are absorbed slower. The later can cause a gradual increase in the blood sugar. Therefore, diabetes-patients are recommended to have these low-glucose index foods. In all cases the entrance of glucose in blood is considered a permission signal to the pancreas to release the Insulin. This hormone facilitate the entrance of glucose (the first energy source) into the tissue and cells, especially into the liver and muscles cells. Then glucose is transferred into the energy-generators in these cells which are known as mitochondria. Thus, glucose is dissociated there in the presence of oxygen to obtain the energy in form of ATP molecules.

So what happens with diabetics?
Insulin normally facilitates the glucose entrance into cells by binding to receptors of insulin on the surface of these cells according to the model of Key-and-lock. If insulin is insufficient or is completely absent, or if the receptors are non-effective (the resistance of insulin-receptors to insulin) glucose cannot be entered to the cells or into the tissues. This happens mostly in majority of people who suffer from obesity and metabolic syndrome. In all of these cases, glucose does enter only slightly into the cells, and the majority remains present in the blood, which leads to higher blood level than normal, and this is what is known as diabetes. The increase of sugar in the blood higher than its normal level, will lead to exceed the limits of the renal threshold for the level of sugar in the blood, which makes glucose excreted with urine. Consequently this causes frequent urination and then thirst and frequent drinking water.

Over the time, the accumulation of sugars will turn it into toxic substances such as sorbitol and fructose. The accumulation of these substances into in body organs such as the deposition in blood capillaries of the eyes or of the kidney, will lead to retinal detachment and to a kidney failure associated by protein excretion with urine. Furthermore, the deposition of sugars in nerves, that control the urination and the sexual processes, causes physical and visceral neuropathy. Moreover the deposition of substances in the major arteries causes atherosclerosis. Therefore, diabetes is a leading factor to atherosclerosis

We confirm that it is possible to adjust the level of blood sugar within the normal range in patients of diabetes, through the use of both herbal wheatgrass extract in natural virgin olive oil, and the aqueous extract of herbal wheatgrass in the natural apple cider vinegar to control diabetes readings and to keep sugar tuned within the normal level.
(Shaikh et.al., 2011) demonstrated in his study on rats the significant role of wheatgrass extract in reducing the blood sugar levels, by stimulating the production of insulin from the beta cells of Langerhans-island cells in the pancreas, and consequently increasing the rate of entry of glucose molecules into cells. Moreover, it also works to reduce the absorption glucose from the digestive tract, i.e. it converts foods nature into low-sugar index. Not only this, but also wheatgrass extract works on reducing the glucose in the blood by increasing the rate of transformation and store of glucose in the form of glycogen in liver and muscles. Glycogen is a form of complex carbohydrates known as animal starch, the availability of glycogen effectively contribute to avoid emergency situations associated with lower glucose levels, because glucose is a fast source to supply the body when the sugar glucose in the blood is reduced. . (Shaikh et.al., 2011)

Since we believe in our balanced nutritional system, that a single-substance therapy is not efficient, due to the fact of synergism that we discovered in the holy Quran, where all texts and verses mention food and drinks in plural and synergy and not as individuals. Since the mechanisms of our chronic diseases are variable, it should be a variety of compounds, diets and mechanisms that counter act the mechanisms of diseases. Therefore, we see that the Holy Quran texts does not mention individual diets, rather it mentions them as groups, and this is in full agreement with the principle of medical synergism. Then, why we should add the herbal extract into both olive oil and apple cider vinegar? What are the secrets of Quran that stand behind that? Based on our expertise and experiences that we acquired through applying the synergistic principle of Quran, we recommend using the extract of wheatgrass in natural virgin olive oil because it had been proven by a study published in Journal of Food Biochemistry in 2011 that the phenolic compounds of olive oil lower the sugar levels through inhibiting of the enzymes α-glucosidase and α-amylase. These two enzymes are responsible for the digestion of carbohydrates and converting them into monosaccharides, and once they are inhibited by the phenolic compounds of olive oil, less monosaccharides will be released in the blood. It is worth mentioning that the intestine does not absorb any type of carbohydrates, proteins or fats, unless they already broken up into their building blocks. Hence, natural virgin olive oil that we use as extract preservative to wheatgrass in our products lowers sugar level that generated from food digestion, and contributes to the reduction of glucose molecules in the blood by reducing absorbed glucose. (Loizzo et.al, 2011)

We recommend you to use our product that has the aqueous extract of wheatgrass in natural apple cider vinegar. Because it was proven that the extract preservative contains quercetin, which is one of the basic components of the apple (Boyer et.al, 2004)

Quercetin works on inhibiting of the enzymes α-glucosidase and α-amylase that are the responsible for digesting carbohydrates in the body and the generation of glucose molecules in the blood. This inhibition leads to reduce the proportion of glucose and other monosaccharides in the blood  (Kumar et. al., 2013)
